Take Up Reel

Where can I get metal 10 1/2" Take Up Reels? I could use a couple 1/4" and a spare 2" wouldn't be bad either.

Whoever sells recording tape in your area, is going to sell that. If there is an analog studio in your vicinity, they could tell you where they get theirs, or possibly sell you those items.

Or you could look in the yellow pages of the nearest big(ger)city. Many times, tape and CD duping places will sell tape, and the reels as well. You could buy it over the phone, and have it sent to you.

Wow...I'm going right over the edge here, breaking every one of my personal rules here...nice post!!

If you get stuck and can't find them locally (it's always best to have a working relationship with your local tape vendor...you never know when they're going to get your ass out of a major bind!!), give the office a call [M-F 10a-5p East Coast time].

I know we have some 2", 1" and 1/2" take up reels floating around, we may have some 1/4" reels too. Local is better...so look locally before calling.

Yeah, I could use a couple for my 1 in. Has anyone else noticed that newer Quantegy reels are a bit loose on the hubs? I end up putting little pieces of tape inside the reels to keep them from knocking around. The older reels I have (Scotch & Ampex) are fine.

(I've seen a couple e-bay auctions for 1/4 in. reels.)
