Audix Introduces the MICROS
Small condensers with a big future
January 2003 Wilsonville, OR
The MICROS are the latest innovation from Audix. Consisting of 2 models
M1245 and M1290, the MICROS are the smallest condenser microphones in the
world with an integrated preamp and detachable cable. The M1245 is less
than 2 inches long and weighs a mere .6 oz while the M1290 is 3.5 inches
in length (90 mm) and weighs in at 1 oz. Characterized with precision machined
brass body and black E-coat finish, every model is attractively laser etched
with it' model and serial number. Individual models include a variety of
polar patterns to choose from including caridoid, hypercardioid, omni-directional
and shotgun capsules.

VP of Sales and Marketing, Cliff Castle, states: "The MICROS are clearly
a departure from everything else on the market. Other miniature microphones
this size require external power supplies that are bulky, cumbersome, and
require extra cabling." Castle continues; "Not only do the MICROS eliminate
the additional power supply, but the preamplifier used in the MICROS is
very special. The circuitry is the same typology used in our popular SCX
series. The MICROS are studio quality mics with very low noise, wide dynamic
range, and high quality performance."
Castle sums it up, "The sound is absolutely astounding! Just think
of the possibilities for live sound, location recording, and installations."
The M1245 has a smooth uniform response over a frequency range of 80
Hz ñ 20 kHz, while M1290 has additional wide response of 40 Hz -
20 kHz. Requiring phantom power of 48-52 volts, the MICROS are low impedance,
fully balanced, and capable of cable runs up to 150' without degradation
of signal or frequency response. The microphones are beautifully packaged
in a classic rosewood case with 12í cable, mic stand adapter, and
snap on foam windscreen. Optional accessories include 25í and 50'
cables, a rubber insulated shock mount clip, and a special clip for positioning
the mics for overhead hanging applications. The MICROS are also compatible
with the Device and Dclamp accessory from Audix, which allow for a wide
variety of instrument miking.
The MICROS are available from authorized Audix dealers at suggested
retail prices of
$379 - $429 depending on model and capsule.
