I know that I should use plenum wiring. Is this is a special type of bundle wire that I need to use, or is there a multi-use/purpose wire that I can fashion to work in this scenario. Preferably, is it possible for me to pick this bundle wire up at a Lowe's/Home Depot?
Any input at this point is very appreciated. I have a studio that is under crazy time crunches beyond my control.
Thanks in advance!

Are you planning to run these cables through your air conditioning ducts?
If yes, then:
Is the studio in a commercial building or at home?
If commercial building, then yes you probably need the special wire.
If home, then you may or may not need this type of wiring. you'll need to ck with local building codes.
Although, if it was in a home, I might opt to go through the attic. Seems like an easier problem to solve. |

No, this is my personal building. My problem is knowing what kind of cable to run. Obviously, I could just get the lengths of xlr needed and do it that way, but I was looking for perhaps a bundle cable (like a 1000 foot roll) that I could cut to desired lengths and terminate where necessary.
With that being said, more rounded, I was wondering if the cable i need is a specific "XLR" cable, or if I can get some sort of multi-use cable that can be terminated into anything? That way, if I knew the restrictions or what particular type of wires needed to be used then I could just pick it up at a department store.
I wanted to install this tomorrow so I can insulate and soundproof without getting held up. |

Just get Neutrik connectors and a sufficiently long roll of Mogami cable (quality).
There are alternatives, and cheaper options, but if a cable breaks on you... |

It's still confusing - You said in your first post that you knew that you needed to run Plenum wiring - That indicates that you're running the wire through AC ducts which requires the wire to meet special conditions. Probably also a permit and inspections by building and zoning. Especially if it's not a residential home. Even a 'Private Building' probably still comes under the heading of commercial building if the area is zoned for businesses, or if there are other businesses nearby.
Basically you're talking about a fire issue, and anytime you're talking about Building and zoning and fire inspections, your 'time constraints' schedule will go out the window.
If you're simply looking for a roll of audio wire (IOW - You're NOT going through AC ducts) then any audio supply Co. can supply any number of cables within a 'snake'. They usually come in 8,16, or 24 pr. and are sold by the foot. So you can buy as long a cable as you need.
But I think you still have not made it clear what your situation is. |
