Hello everybody im still kinda new in recording and stuff. Well this is like my first main project. Im in a band and im doing the recording and mastering for our first release. So far i have one song thats almost done. Like the subject says it is a work in progress and its not completed. The lead guitarist still has to record his part and im thinking of deleting portions of some of the song and we also have to rerecord the back up guitarist parts cuz of timing issues. Anyway if you all could, if your interested, give me some helpful tips on how mabey you would do things as far as the mixing goes or the eq, or what ever you might think should be done to the mix i would appreciate it. Not so much the performance but the mix. Just to for your info we recorded all the tracks on my small Korg digital recorder and recorded at 24bit/44kHz and transfered everything to Pro Tools M-powered 7.3 and did the editing there. Well here you go the song is the only one there and is called "Tonight" the link is:

if it doesnt work you could just put:

Thank you |

Keep Jambing Ben.
No idea how to polish it, but I reckon it flys as it is. Cool drumming.
Just make some copies, make some cover art, write some stories and sell the package. Easy as pie.
Rock on. |

Is there a bass guitar? Drums sound far away. Did you put a reverb on them all? Maybe a little less. I like it on the snare and some on the overheads. |

What drums / cymbals are you using? To be honest the cymbal that is ridden on during the majority of the intro sounds terrible!
I think there are some really good ideas in this song but it needs to be mixed abit better for those to be brought out better.
The rest of the kit sounds pretty good. The drums could do with some more punch. The toms and snare sound pretty good overall (and will sound better with more punch). The kick drum drum sounds alittle weak in the fact that it could be scooped abit more and be punchier in the low end.
The guitars sound quite thin (is there a bass?)
Overall not too bad What are your influencies ? Underoath ? |

thanks will do! ....yeah there is supposed to be bass in there somewhere haha. I was messing with the mix earlier and thought it was to much but yeah i could see how the guitars and the bass are probably getting blended in together. Ill definitely put more of the bass in there and just try messing around the eq. Would you guys think there needs to be more mids? lows? ect or does it just need to be simply raised? and for the drums yeah i put reverb on them originally and didnt like it so yeah there is not supposed to be reverb and i noticed that to that it still sounds like theres still reverb hmmmm...and also unfortunately i made the mistake of putting the kick and snare in one channel. On the recorder it only could record 4 tracks simultaneously so i had to work around that but hope to up grade soon.... yup the drummer has issues with using to much.. i also told him that he uses to much kick drum sometimes, hes learning i guess, for future recording definitely will convince him to play simpler. As for the set not top notch, hes using Ludwig and medium end Zilgian symbols so were doing with what we have in the mean time. ha yeah About half of us like underoath, im not to crazy about them but do appreciate there music i mean the music that they write is just good. I persanally get influenced by a number of different bands, (keane, need to breathe, incubus, Leeland and others ha) well, thank you all for taking your time and giving your thoughts and will consider everything you all said! im still learning and hope to get things sounding like alot of the mixes here..wow good sounding stuff!.. i appreciate your comments it really helps to get good input from more veteran experience thanks
