Has anyone here ever used a digi003 with the Tweak Head Package mod. I'm curious about the converters. I haven't been able to find one I could listen to in person. Just the samples they offer on their website. I've been looking into getting a better converter but I'm not sure if I can justify spending a lot on one. Especially since I need to get some good preamps as well. |

They must be fairly swift guys since Digi design does not supply any schematics as they consider their circuits all proprietary. What BS! They're only proprietary because they're awful. So if you're using ProTools, you need a ProTools interface as you can't record with anything else. So what's up? You're not making sense.
Don't get me wrong. The 002 is just fine for most folks. If you want a better sounding front end I'd say go with their mod. It appears to be a worthy investment.
I don't got one. Don't need one.

ow committed are you to staying with PT/digi in the long term?
I have an 002 and have considered the BLA upgrades, but I've decided that I'm not going to invest any more money upgrading the digi part of my signal chain. No software or digi hardware upgrades. Right now the 002 and 6.X software is serving my needs. When it no longer does, I am going to move on to another interface and DAW software. For the past year or so I've bought only equipment that will work for me after I move on. I'm certainly not to the point where all my equipment is so good that the digi part of the signal chain is a noticeable bottleneck. Lots of other ways to improve my equipment (more than I can afford).
I'm not a digi basher. I think I did well to start off with a PT system. Got me up and running quickly. But now that I know a bit more, I'm confident that I can do better putting my own system together. In the meantime, I have no real reason to get rid of the 002, and I have to keep reminding myself that I shouldn't change just for the sake of changing. |

Yeah I'll be using the digi 003 for probably awhile. I hate how you have to have the hardware to use protools but protools is what I know best right now. I want to try logic eventually. I want to basically only need the 003 to use protools. Right now I'm looking to invest in better micpres and conversion. I was looking into apogee converters but I was curious about the difference between them and the black lion audio mod. I'd also like a chance to try the ssl converters but i wouldn't be able to afford them yet anyway. |
