There is a plethora of plug-ins out there for pro-tools LE users to wade through, some of them are very useful and creative and some are not. Here’s a list of my “must have” plug-ins. The ones that I feel are indispensable and that I use on almost every session. Please feel free to add to this list or comment as you see fit. Enjoy…

Waves - SSL4000 Collection

Waves - Musicians 2 Bundle

IK Multimedia - ARC

IK Multimedia - T Racks

Antares - Auto-Tune 5

Digidesign - Soundreplacer

Digidesign - Eleven

BBE - Sonic Maximizer

The Waves SSL 4000 Collection is an awesome set of plugs. I use the “E-Channel” on every channel of my mixes to create a “virtual” SSL console. Then just drop the master buss compressor on your stereo master track and you’re off and running. If you can’t afford to spend 100K or more on an actual SSL console then this collection is the best way to get that SSL sound into your DAW, and the sound of these plugs are VERY close to the original equipment… scary close. SSL consoles have been used on pretty much every radio hit produced in the last 30 years or so which makes this collection worth it’s weight in gold in my opinion.

Considering it's software, and just a collaction of ones and zeros... It's weight is nothing... Thus worth nothing if made out of gold.

Too literal?

Well he is engineer_1 so that has to count for something.

What if it was engineer_4458? How much weight would his word carry with that moniker?

That's pretty funny, have you guys ever actually used these plugs before? Have you ever had any practical work experience on an actual SSL console? I thought this was a forum for the exchange of ideas and help for those who are interested in learning something practical and useful about recording. My mistake. This will be my last post.

Me personally, I am not impressed with gear, physical or digital. I have some of the plug ins you mention, but not for the reason you mention them Wink

I am interested in the simple use of gear to achieve specific events. This above posts makes it read like a handful of plugins and you can "compete" which I know could not be farther from the truth.

But the most damning, the largest crippling you did to your own cause;
BBE - Sonic Maximizer!

Now your just pushing plugins as a means to achieve a desired sonic event.

The post officially reads, to me, "Get these plugins, place them in the proximity that I have suggested and wait for the rewards!"
