How do you convince video production company's, that the quality of the audio is essential for success of their clients product? And the client dosn't know why their product isn't moving, because their tape was used to record something better, like Montel LOL! I think it stinks!
Just a rant,

Rick, just remember to tell them that, dollar for dollar, audio is the least expensive part of production. I have a lot of clients that are frugal and want to finish everything in-house. I remind them what kind of impact sound can make on their projects and of the past projects they thought were a lost cause that I was able to turn around for them. Some companies are really cheap, but keep at them in a friendly way, and convince them to leave something in the budget for you one of these times... THEN impress their socks off and maybe you'll win them over.
Good luck! |

I won't forget, how can I? If I have to loop in one of there's with one of mine, the client says, "Why is that part so muddy, and fuzzy?" I say, "This is what y’all approved!, do you want me to (1) Fix the bad one? $, or (2) Make mine look like theirs, in which case, I would suggest sending it back to them. However, the #1 problem is lack of a well rounded "over the shoulder" tech advisor/engineer" One who knows systems, standards, continuity, and is not afraid to tell an editor, that a few small adjustments, can make a huge difference in a production. I would be the client from hell, I know, but when I work with my clients, I educate them in process. This gives them a much clearer understanding, in the pre/prod process. It's the classic (buyer beware) thing I guess. I know I am a bit harsh about it.
Thanks.
