Audio Interface

Hi, I'm Andres I'm starting my new studio, I already own a MO8 Yamaha keyboard and own Logic Pro, I was looking to buy an audio interface and I almost but the M Audio Fast Track Ultra but I read it had a very big problem, it had to be restarted and reinstalled everytime it was used. I was wandering if anybody knows how to repair this problem or if anybody know of another audio interface within the same price range (300-350 dollars) and with the same specifications (high-speed USB 2.0 interface ,simultaneous 8 x 8 24-bit/96kHz audio and 4 preamps) if there is not antoher similar I would probably go with an 4 x 4 24 bit/ 96kHz with at least 2 preamps, usb.

A friend of mine has the Tascam 1641. When it works it sound great, especially for the price. To get it to work he has to try plugging it in several times. This seems to be a common problem with USB interfaces and Vista. PCI cards such as the M-Audio Delta 1010LT don't have this problem.

if you can get firewire on your system you are opening yourself up to some better options. PreSonus makes some decent low end A/D converters, if you have the budget look into the RME fireface. if you're running vista, i wish you all the best.

I own a Mac, sorry I didn't mention this before, so I do have firewire, thanks...

I was checking the RME fireface and altough it looks very good I was looking something cheaper... more in the 300- 350 , maybe a little bit more but not that much... thanks anyways

so I've narrow it to two, M-Audio ProFire 610 FireWire Recording Interface and M-Audio Delta 1010 LT PCI Digital Audio Computer Interface the first one has no reviews but I liked the features on it, and the Delta has really good reviews but has no hard cover box or shell (I don't know if you understand what I'm trying to say but if you search it you'll probably understand). So I was wandering if you know which one of this two is better, I probably wouldn't mind the second not having a box or shell or whatever, because if that's the only reason it is so much cheaper than the other then I would definetely buy the M audio Delta. If there's another reason why the Profire is more expensive could anyone tell me what it is so I can make my decision. Thanks!

The Delta 1010 is the Delta 1010LT with a "hard shell box"

The ProFire has adjustable gain and phantom power for condenser microphones. The 1010LT has a jumper for high and low gain. If you have an external pre amp or a mixer, the 1010LT is a good option, otherwise I would go with the ProFire.
