I was almost positive there would have been another thread on this already.. Used the search button...Nothing.

So...
Does anyone have any experience with any of these? I was looking, seems like they have some nice ones. I was looking at the platinum series.
Even if you don't have any experience, what do you think of them?
It seems like on the inside of the booths, every inch of the wall..what do you think about that?

And does anyone know the price range of these booths?

Cool way to find things, Space.

http://Vocalbooth.com is running some banners here right now. Good supporters for us. Why don't we invite them here to tell us more about their booths.

I've looked around their site. I know you can DIY it, however, for those that can buy one ready to fit, I'd love to have one. They look awesome.
The Diamond Booths are perfect for our studio. Its designed to fit into corners. That model is a bit more pricey, around $5000.00 for the one I have my eyes on.

How do you get it in the door? :S

(Don't answer that, it's obvious that you just remove your roof)

It comes in handy little pieces that fit through all standard doorways and halls.

They pack all the pieces into a crate and ship it to your door, then they stand around watching you unload it piece by piece, or you can pay them to help, this is called "inside delivery" which is my new favorite gross innuendo.

All this came from their F.A.Q.

$!^(% Damn, $1695... I wish I could use capitals for numbers... Anyways, $1695 for a decent sized amp box...
Why is this stuff so expensive? $1695US is $2,765AU, not including inside delivery... money shot? Anyways, just to give a reference. It's 3 months unemployment benefit. It's 1.16 times the price of a Fender Deluxe Reverb. It's only available in Grey.

Well I'll chime in on that pet peeve of mine.

Being a high end trades person myself, and hearing people say they'd do it themselves if it costs too much, generally speaking, says one thing to me when I quote on jobs. They don't want to pay for quality, don't value other trades, and are most likely the type of person that will bitch about every cent. I always avoid clients like this. Over the long haul... Working for DIY people will ruin skilled labor standard. Look at what we are getting from China. Nothing but crap.

That being said... Wink

Some people are actually gifted with building things well, most however, are far from excellent, or even okay at it. Buying a house that is patched together by some thrifty DIYer is one big nightmare. I'm guessing these booths are pretty well designed and constructed in the USA.

Lets compare apples to apples.

Assuming time and effort is of value right off the bat... then... add the costs to buy all the tools (fabric cutting tool, solder kit, wire, mic kit, table saw, jig saw, mider saw, electric fan, venting, windows, door hardware, glue, brush, roller, solvent, foam, electric knife, fuel to pick up all the things you can buy locally and add some addition shipping fee's for something you may need to order, hopfully not from China, and you have the space to construct it all including cleaning up all the mess in the end, oh, did I say you had good plans too... , I wonder if you could actually do it all, just as good for the same price.

Its a no brainer to me... if you want something that has been tested and constructed well, including the cost to ship anything these days... Personally, if I can't do something excellent, and can afford something that I need, I pay for skilled labour, good plans and hire someone that has already done something more than once.

In most cases, you get what you pay for. Trades that are in business are usually successful because they are doing something right.

Greener just sent me a PM, suggesting I'm chiming in here because its a cash cow. For what its worth, I don't accept just anyone to advertise here. They are supporting RO at the moment because I feel their booths are beneficial to some studio setups. I'm not that lame as why I would stick up for someone, or something in the name of a profit. I have more honor than that, and that is why this forum has grown to this size. We share this idea at large. Also, The topic was brought up by someone else, not me, Plus... most importantly... I'm happy to help people that make good things, who are trying hard and in turn are supporting us at the same time. We need more of that in the world.

My comments regarding general construction are in defense to how I view the construction and skilled labour issues, and how tired I am about hearing how others pull good companies down when they feel it can be done cheaper. The Made in China thing has me in a knot these last 5 years. Sorry for my rash stand.

Bottom line... I would like to have one of these booths, absolutely! They look really well made.

hope that clears up any concerns of me chiming in here.

As far as spam... I've since invited Vocal Booth to talk about their product here in this topic. I hope we show them some class if they do in fact feel welcome enough to show up.

RO

I have a few questions.

Are all parts made in the USA from first class materials sourced from first world country's?

How is an airtight seal created without the use of caulk?

How are these things sound-proof without being airtight?

Why can I only get the iso cabs in Grey? when the web site clearly states making custom things is what they do.

I have many many more questions, especially considering the company has no retailers, where do you discuss these things with an experienced third party who isn't on the payroll?

How do you get on the payroll? Razz

MrPhaSe,
Great to see your interest in our VocalBooths. I do work for VocalBooth.com and we have recently started a relationship with recording.org. We thought our knowledge on sound isolation would be a benefit to members. In addition, answer any questions relating to our products. I did not see a location in your profile but here is a link for our standard pricing not including shipping costs. Depending on where you are located shipping may be included. If you are located internationally we have dealers in the UK and Australia. Their price scale is slightly different due to import taxes and fees. To answer your other questions please review some of our comments from recent customers, featured artists and customer comments. If you have any additional questions let me know.

VB,

Welcome to RO! ...and in particular, our little corner of the world!

I looked at the standard pricing... not bad!

In partial response to Greener and Big Tree's posts, a lot of DIY'er's, (Myself pseudo included) will probably look at your pricing and exclaim that they can build the same thing, only a lot cheaper.

I'll not go through all of the math, but if my calculations are close to correct, at about $95/sq ft - DELIVERED... your booths appear to be one heck of a decent value.

Just as a bit of real world comparison... I'm hoping (and expect) that my iso booth will have a bit more isolation than your booths. However, at about $135/sq ft (less my extensive finishing labor) I would hope that the cost difference would indeed yield a greater amount of isolation.

For the time/expense difference... IMHO, your booths appear to be a damn fine product that fellow DIY loonies should probably look at when the consider their studio designs.

My paltry $.02 worth.
