Office Prank

There's a guy at work we like to prank. Our pranks are quite elaborate and require some hefty planning.

Our HR guy likes to 'toot his own horn' way too much so this is our way of tooting ours.

We plan to wire up a speaker into the ceiling cavity of his office. We plan to use the NCH tone generator software and generate a constant 16Khz tone for about a week. 16K tone sounds like tinnitus. We hope that it will blend in with the ambient sounds of the room and the factory outside his office.

The fun part is that is almost impossible to break into his office, were looking at entering his office from the ceiling cavity of an adjacent bathroom. We also need to find a place to hide and power the computer.

I thought i'd run this prank by the forum though to find out if being subjected to this tone could cause long term hearing issues for the guy or send him to a seizure. We want this prank to annoy the 'S' out of him, but not hurt him in a way that would cause discipline on our part.

What are your thoughts?

Fun or prank, I'd be very careful about entering any office that is locked. It could turn into a disaster.

Were all upper management so its less of a worry.

That being said, I sure look forward to hearing the outcome. I hope you guys don't effect the economy from all this Wink

soundsnap.com has some good loops like that, i thought of it. Were still in early planning, just fact finding for the side effects.

We are so Politically Correct in California that breaking into an HR office in itself will get you fired!

Were more breaking into the ceiling cavity. I think were going to end up using a loop of one annoying cricket. But I would still like to know if a 16khz tone at about 60db would be harmless if one was subjected to it for a week.
