Yeah, I remember hearing Al for the first time on the Dr. Demento back in the early '70's. Music is a tough business - especially if you are an accordion player. Always good to find your niche. |

Als' ability to parody is classic. He works as hard as any other and is as poignant and hilarious as is probably possible. Like a funny Frank Zappa.
The original is a classic example of ear candy for the ladies.
That was an entertaining tangent to my day, thanks MT3K. |

Weird AL is a genious; we need more of his stuff around, if only to remind us how stooopid most of the stuff he's parodying is in the first place.
"Eat It", "Smells Like Nirvana" & "Ridin' Nerdy" are, IMHO, better songs & videos than the originals. Deservedly so.
Those who grant him permission to do the parodies are of course "Flattered" (read: Greedy for the bucks) They of course miss by a mile the fact that their stuff is just BEGGING to be ripped apart and made fun of.
There's a hilarious video parody of Britney Spears insultingly vapid "Piece of Me" here, titled "Peace of Meat" (You can just imagine what's in THIS one....)

What are you not understanding? Funny? Or who Frank Zappa is?
Do you not agree with my statement? Or do you want elaboration? |

Weird Al Appreciation Thread is relevant to my interests.
My life is brilliant...
What, was I too early? Oh, do you want me to start over? Keep going? Ok. Now? Now?
My life is brilliant. Your life's a joke... |

When MTV was just starting the brush fire that would be, I used to laugh my ass of listening to Al doing his take on some of the hottest hits, now classics.
"Eat it" was over the top with attention to detail in the video footage and the explosion that he used towards the end of the VanHalen solo. Al looked a lot like Micheal Jackson back then, so he said.
The all time sing along for me and my drug addicted buddies was "Another one rides the bus", covering "Another one bites the dust" from the rock group Queen.
Sweet.
I think I'm missing a contact lens, I think my watch is gone, I think this bus is stopping again and a couple more freaks get on. Another one rides the bus...
All from memory!!!

That song is EPIC and is the first one I heard of his.
There's a finger pokin me in the ribs, my face is turning blue...
I haven't been in a crowd like this, since I went to see The WHO! |

"I met him in a swamp down in Dagoba, where it bubbled all the time like a giant carbonated soda. S-O-D-A soda..."
"I want a new duck. Not a quail or an owl. One that won't molt too much, one that won't smell too fowl..."
Old school Wierd Al. Love it. |

cutting for the very first time?
I give up. I just cannot be relied upon when it comes to remembering.
Did you know that a memory is not a static piece of information? We recreate it each time a memory is revisited.
Anyway, Thanks Al. No one before or after and most likely ever will play an accordion in main stream rock! |

Mmhmm.
Also, Have a break. Have a kitkat.
Incidentally, how would you go about micing an accordion?
The catch is you absolutely are not allowed to use a SM57 or a SM58. |
