I'd like to give away some products in the next year here on recording.org.
If you want to become a supporting manufacturer or dealer, PM me.
Lets get some input on what we could do to make things exciting fun and as fair a possible.
Please share your idea's on types of contests we could do, maybe quiz's, maybe best potential song, band etc.
Lets get started. |

Are we giving away cables + DI boxes, or that $74k mastering console? |

Very true...
I'd rather have what I've learned from having my HD280s, than actually having the 280s themselves.
Although, they do outclass everything else I own in terms of sound quality.
Edit: To address the question...
I like the idea of a mix contest, or something to the effect of that.
While competition shouldn't get out of hand, sharing helps. Maybe someone could upload a bunch of relatively high quality tracks and after 2 weeks, the mixes are posted for a vote.
I'd join in just for the learning experience. |

I always enjoyed Seb's quizzes, but it was tough because rapid response was usually critical. That makes it tough in a global community and for folks with day jobs that don't allow constant refreshes of the web browser. |

Seb's are a blast but you are right, Karl. The rapid response thing doesn't play out well if we want everyone to have the best chance.
I'd like to see something that has to do with raw talent more than luck for one giveaway at least.
Judging Rules: I'm thinking a voting system that relies on both, forum response, and voting poll together. The vote poll could help us short list, followed by forum response. Poll cheating would be obvious. Forum response should be educational and beneficial to all who follow along as we discuss the contest and find the raw talent.
Some ideas I have:
Most potential song.
Best mix
what else? |

I wonder if we could sell tickets for a draw? That would be cool too. |

Can you do that without some sort of raffle license?
I like the idea of competitions and other incentives for people to hang around here. Something to try and lure people away from only posting when they want something and get them involved in general contribution to the forums.
According to my account information I have "Points you have by participating on the site's content: 1679" how does this work? Does it take into account things like one of my posts is one point of participation but say a post of Cucco's or Remy's should be One Hundred due to the fact they post usefull stuff and I take the piss a lot? |

What's that, 2.04 per post or something (made up number)?
I have 1804. Hmm. I gotta say I'm curious about the system's purpose and how it works.
bigtree's point count must be OVER NINE THOUSAND!
It still deserves to be higher. |

Id prefer a random drawing, makes it fair to everyone. Take a look at engadget's contests, they just require people to post their thoughts on a certain topic in the post and as long as the follow the guidlines their entry is valid, makes it fair to everyoen even the amatuers etc. |

The person with approximately 159 participation points has a very valid point. |
