I've had a condenser mic for two years which I haven't used cos I didn't have phantom power - what's the very least I need to get it to work? |

Most likely all you need is a pre or small mixer with phantom power.
Now the barrage of questions:
It really depends. What do you have?
What type of microphone is it? What type of mixer? What type of audio interface?
What do you want to do recording wise? Do you intend on doing anything else besides using this microphone? |

Eventually I want to make a decent studio set up, but for now I just want to get some use out of the Mic (a samson CO1).
I don't have any mixers or anything - just plug a little plastic mic straight into the computer at the moment. |

So you need everything. What about the Makie Onxy you were looking at a month ago? And Pro Tools? That would work for you. If you really want to record, then following that advice would be a good place to start.
Seems silly to rehash all that information again.
Your Recording interfaces thread
Your Macs and Pro Tools thread
Do we really need one more "what do I need to buy to get started" thread? |

sorry, as you can tell, i never really moved anywhere from those original threads, and now all i want to do is get SOME use out of the microphone, on a currently VERY limited budget, so was just asking what the bare minimum is that i need. |

The very least that you need is to educate yourself on what you need. Start reading the forums. |
