What is a good proffessional mastering (authoring) software for Mac, that can handle all aspects of making the final master and save in most used formats? I need it to handle CD Text, ISRC codes, EAN or UPC code etc. I use Roxio Jam now but I dont think Roxio makes Jam anymore. New Toast can do the ISRC and CD text, but not make a DPP image, and the CD-plant dont want a Toast image. |

Excellent name (2008 FLHX here), welcome to the forum, etc.
The plant will certainly take a compliant CD-R as a production master...
The cheapest DDP solution I know for Mac is Sonic PMCD's plugin. PMCD and the DDP export will run you around $1k. |

Thanks! Nice bike, got a 2000 FXD, very customized.
I guess I have to get the Sonic eventually, just not in my budget at the moment, they take a CD-R, that s what I usually deliver, but I was in a time crunch and the plant is in another country...
I guess I can use a friends Wavelab on a PC for now.
Thanks,
Ken |

BTW - CD-TEXT isn't supported in DDP. If you really want it, you're going to have to courier it over. |

Hey John,
Actually Sonic PMCD is $495, which includes DDP export.
All CDs burned in PMCD are made from the DDP image.
If you want the DDP Load-Back option, that'll cost you the extra $500.

Almost used Sonic PMCD at one point... |

Depending on how badly you need CD-Text and DDP support, there are several options on the Mac.
Sonic PMCD (CD-Text support only with Redbook CD-R; DDP delivery)
WaveBurner Pro (bundled with Logic, no DDP support)
WaveEditor (DDP support coming soon)
DSP Quattro (was Spark XL, no DDP support)
Peak (DDP support a paid option)
Toast Titanium (or Jam, no DDP support)
If you use Jam, and it works, what difference does it make that Roxio doesn't market it anymore? If it does the job, then you're all set, and don't have to spend more money.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Thor |
