Thank you.

I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, but the fact of the matter is that this site is called "Recording.org", not "Recording101.org", not "Home recording.org", not "Full Sail Help Desk.net", nor is it called "Live Sound For Beginners.com".

We do have a beginner's section, we also have a number of what I would consider pro sections. The two aren't necessarily interchangeable. It's aggravating to me to see someone post a question about a $20 mic from Radio Shack in the pro sections. I do ignore those posts.

None of us mind helping beginners in the industry, but c'mon - ya gotta get your feet wet a little before you start asking routine questions that have been covered a hundred times before, even if that means trolling the site for a few days (or weeks). Not to mention that most of the informataion folks are looking for is clearly and concisely written out in a manual provided by the manufacturer and which 9 times out of 10 is FREELY available online. Take a look at Meyersound.com - every manual, every cad drawing, even their user presets are available for free right there. I don't run to my boss and ask him what the coverage is for a MILO cabinet, I go to Meyer's website and download the manual - then I READ IT.

There's an assload of information stored on these pages for beginners, the search tool works just fine if you know what you're looking for. Most noobs don't seem to care about that, they just want to add another thread about remedial methods and procedures - they want instant gratification that could be had quicker if they just RTFM. If other cats on here want to tackle those, more power to them - if not, well that's the way the ball bounces.

Actually, I'm quite happy to be repetitive.

In fact I have been known to repeat myself.

Once upon a time, I became a recording engineer.....

Knowing how to plug things in, is as simple as knowing about the birds & bees. If you don't know how to make babies? You'll never understand signal flow, gain staging, or how babies are made. That's called natural selection birth-control. Unfortunately, not enough people have been selected. I selected myself. Therefore I am my own friend. I frequently like playing with myself, behind an audio console, a great big audio console, thinking I'm asking Phil Ramon, or George Massenburg a question or demonstrating my skills. I also consider Sir George Martin but he's far too gentlemanly for this dirty audio girl.

I might be a mother but I've never had a child.

That could be reversed and still be just as true! Wink

Sometimes, things just need to be said.

Quit whining.

I call it like I see it.
