I was just asking for help, thanks for the "jokes".

Remy:

Seems like you're getting too old to do math period. Hah hah!

You cannot change 400Ft^2 to 400Ft^3 to get the volume from the area.

Volume: abc (w*h*d)

Code:
(2)(4)(8) = 64ft^3

Area: wh

Code:
(2)(4) = 8ft^2

".Unless you're a damn robot you could probably tell that I won't have a space that needs that much money spent on it. "

Actually I had no idea then and less now then before.

You said "bed room" now you say "basement"

Very different...very different. 400 sq ft now it's...what is it anyway?

What I said was READ THE STICKIES!!!!

I said my room was 400Sq Ft because we're only talking about the walls Razz not the volume.

423.340278 square feet is the area of every wall in my room added up - besides the ceiling and floor.

We've all had our fair share of sarcasm and joking now I think.

Will using GreenGlue + Drywall ontop of my current drywall along with Treating the room /w 2'x4' fiberglass?

That should probably reduce the amount of noise people outside of my room can hear it by quite a bit.

ALSO:

IF IT ISNT ENOUGH..

I plan to use http://www.soundprooffoam.com/quiet-barrier.html ontop of my existing drywall. Then use greenglue to attach the drywall ontop of this.

Well, it sounds like you have a plan in place. But really, air allows sound to travel. So you really need an airtight seal. So include plenty of weatherstripping around your door. Close up those heating & air-conditioning vents. You might even want to start building a new room within your room with a dedicated HVAC system? Remember to isolate it with rubber isolators & Springs. Making sure it's fully suspended. You should be done with this in about five years time. I'll be checking back with you then.

I can't hear you?

I think to sum up what everyone is saying here:

1: You don't have the money to make that room soundproof.

2: You don't have the time to make that room sound proof.

3: You don't have the skills to make that room sound proof.

It will take a whole lot more than green glue and drywall to isolate that room. As pointed out. Air DOES transmit sound. Hence we are able to hear. The best sound barrier is density. Lead sheeting is good for this. Sheet rock is not nearly dense enough on it's own and being fully coupled with the existing infrastructure will still transfer sound.

If you plan on decoupling your room it will cost a lot of money. I would consider building or buying an isolation booth for tracking and mixing at a time when no one will be disturbed by it.

You guys are a bunch of douchebags.

I love you all, but I am no longer going to use this forum. I don't need this bullshit.

Thanks for the couple of tips..

I really don't know if you're joking or not..I don't care..you're ridiculous. You act like you've been abused or something. Don't take your anger out on me jackasses.

Peace

If you would have read the sticky, you could have avoided this whole anger management post.

It's really a simple thing, I don't know why, with such a sophisticated endeavor as soundproofing and room treatments, folks think they can ask the most fragmented and nebulous questions and expect a fix-it one size fits all reply.

It really isn't as simple as that, it is complicated for a reason, mostly applying to the fact that you cannot see sound!

Maybe you will, one day, grace us with your questions some day, when you have experienced enough heartache and sonic headache to be able to come back with the realization that you just gained in this one thread enough information to do what it is that you wanted to do, based on the hap-hazard questions asked Smile

That's what you are, but what am I,

Brien

Yeah, the folks here are some serious douchebags.

They just don't understand things at all...

Like the fact that they need to learn to go against the laws of physics and ethics to feed you a line of crap advice.

They also need to learn to read minds and know what your going to ask before you do... the douchebags...

Look skippy, you really need to lighten up, and if you don't post here again.... well... goody for someone. But, you'll probably run into us, and lots more folks like us, (and still saying the exact same thing), in most of the other acoustics and studio building forums on the web.

First, it doesn't matter what you want to hear, if your idea sucks... guess what? It still sucks. If it's a great idea, then folks will confirm it.

If you can't do any construction in your room, then you can't do any construction. In which case, there's nothing that can be done to soundproof your room. Period.

So, since you obviously don't want to listen to the voices of experience and reason, just slap some foam on the walls and be done with it. At least it'll look cool, which is all you evidently want anyway.

I agree with Bob, your mother should be ashamed of you. You can't even make your bed?

oh, btw.... your gear list don't mean squat when you're at this stage of the game.

You all missed the very first step...Get Build like the pros, read it, then read it again, then refer to it while you build. Whether or not you follow it is up to you, but at least youyou won't be surprised by the mistakes your making by not doing EXACTLY what Rod outlines in the book.
