So my experience at his studio was rather pleasant! He just let me run the session, and in fact just left during the majority of it!

Amazing gear, great sound, and surprisingly great space overall.

Will post video and some songs from the session.

Did get my hands on the U47 and was sadly disappointed by its sound, very very thin! But then again it was 3am when we attempted vocals (the only thing we didn't accomplish).

Perhaps that U47 needs to spend some time out here in the hands of Mr. Klaus Heyne. I'm sure theres a problem cause they ARENT thin as a rule.

In fact I've never heard a healthy Neumann of any sort sound 'thin'......

as far as my problem with changing from 24bit to 32bit, one the conversion time is terrible, takes a long time, plus as remy said there is some funky stuff going on.

I chose to push the box to it's limits of 96/24 because well 'when in rome!'

as far as the u47, it is brand new from guitar center lol, ran it through the 8110, and it was thin, i was scratching my head going "whats wrong here? It was 3am or i woulda just switched to the other pre he had.

Where we (I) left off:

Yes, I think you can just consolidate the tracks and you're set.
Did it go down like that, or did you have to do some voodoo to set it straight?

It's good to hear that the place and the time spent was worthwhile, good for you!

The place I used to record bands in around here - the dude would smoke your weed and crash on the couch in the front office... FUN!

I agree with Remy.
Noones complained about the recordings I made on a computer interface except me, because I spent hours listening to the noise and phase issues caused by time slips.
That's 44.1KHz, 16bit, 4 channels of lovely crosstalking frequently clipped junk mashed together with no real skill and some generic badly set compressors/reverbs.

For me I was in a rush the next morning so I didnt have to time to go and do what was recommended i just did it the old fashioned: set faders to 0dB, solo each track and then File bounce to disk....

took a while but it works but im going back next week so ill make sure to actually have to time to try the consolidation.

Can't you just copy the wav files out of the project directory? Would make so much sense.

I dont know of a 'new' U47. They stopped making those (at least Neumann did) in the early 60's. The U67 was its replacement.

And that 8110 isnt a 'thin' piece either.

Curious.

thing is i dont want to peice back together my session, i mix in audition, so there is no grid. Basically I just want to be able to put my multiple takes together on say Guitar L, and then just load it up from PT and put it Audition. So far the solo track + bounce, is the only way I know to do that.

Must have been a U67 Dave, like I said it was definitely 3am (and I had been up since 7am the day before!) before I plucked the microphone from it's wooden case!

And no the 8110 is definitely NOT a thin piece as you listen to this unfinished song http://www.mediafire.com/?hd2xitdtmmj

And HAHA to Greener!
