I do audio post/sound design in Pro Tools.
I have a potential client who is using Vegas. This is the first time for me, my previous clients have always used FCP or Avid. Previously I have always received the audio as OMF2.
This client tells me that Vegas cannot export the audio files as OMF2. Is this correct? If so, what are the export options that will retain the individual sound bites and their place in the time line? |

I'll have to go home and see what options Vegas has (I have Version 5).
I think the quickest way to get the files will be to render each track one at a time, then you'll have to throw them up on the time line in PT.
(Rendering audio tracks in Vegas takes very little time, a few seconds usually).
Here's a list of supported file formats from Sony, pertaining to Version 8:
Supported File Formats
Opens: AA3, AAC, AAF, AIF, ASF, AU, AVI, BMP, BWF, CDA, DIG, DLX, DV, FLAC,
GIF, IVC, JPG, M2T, M2TS, MTS, MOV, Sony MXF, MP3, MP4, M4A, MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video, MPEG-4,
OGG, OMA, PCA, PNG, PSD, QT, SFA, SND, SWF,* TIFF, TGA, TS, VOX, W64, WAV, WMA, WMV
Saves: AA3, AC3, AIF, ATRAC, AVC, AVI, FLAC, MOV, MP3, MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video,
MPEG-4, M2T, M2TS, Sony MXF, OGG, PCA, RM, W64, WAV, WMA, WMV |

The best solution (what I did on a recent Vegas post project) is to export using EDL text, then convert to OMF with EDL Convert Pro. Just be careful not to have stereo and mono audio files mixed on the same track in Vegas or OMF will ignore the variant clip, and slip all subsequent clips on that track back in time to adjust.
My advice is, if you have Vegas 8, to get the Vegas project, or a subset project and do the export conversion yourself - it might save you some headaches trying to solve some of Vegas' EDL quirks. |

No Pinnacle spamming. Link deleted as will your other posts here.
Why do you guys think anyone in their right mind would buy Pinnacle? Don't you know we will be telling everyone to avoid Pinnacle, esp. since it's just a spam company now? |

Totally off topic but....fortunately for Steinberg, they cut ties with Pinnacle and merged with (or were bought out by Yamaha. Customer support has improved greatly as well as the software in general having better compatibility.
Pinnacle's support is notoriously non-existant. |

Apparently the new log-on security feature isn't working.
So, back to locking the spam posts.
Chris, we gotta come up with a better way to handle this... |
