Yes it's possible. It's just a matter of synching the audio to video after the fact. If you have Premiere (or elements) you could capture to disc and use the "drift compensation" (or whatever it's called)function.

"Garbage in/Garbage out"

In order to have quality sound you must record quality sound to begin with. Capturing great production sound is the first step. Most young/beginning filmmakers completely ignore this until it is much too late. Your best bet is to retain a production sound crew. The rest is up to your talent, your ears and your skills (and your budget).

Obviously, there are numerous ways to shoot a music video.

The simple question I would start with is, will this be a live show you're trying to capture? Or, is this a purpose built production?

ProTools is only a recording and mixing program that also can be utilized in a postproduction environment.

So unless you're capturing 8 to 24 simultaneous tracks, you're speaking in terms of a PA Board mix, which is only two tracks. In that respect, your results will probably be less than adequate?

Now if you were to do it the old-fashioned way, you would cut your music tracks first. Then you would lip sync to a playback of the music while making your video. This can be accomplished with a single camera, since you will be doing it over & over again from different angles, etc..

Conversely, if you have a multi-track recorder, you could take feeds off the PA board, for later mixing & sweetening. You can also run more than one digital camera. With video editing software by Adobe & Avid, Sony, etc., you can synchronize multiple cameras in the timeline just like audio. This gives you the ability to shoot as many cameras as necessary. I've done productions like this from 2 to 6 simultaneous cameras/camcorders. Now don't get me started on how long the editing time takes. It's horrific! But then, the end results will dazzle people. Time code isn't that big a necessity since we're not talking about a huge documentary project. We're talking rock-and-roll show here. What can't be scrimped on is lighting. You have to light for television not for a lounge. You need to splash the stage with plenty of light & color. The audio track on the camcorders will be used to synchronize against your finished soundtrack.

Let me know how it goes?

This is the situation: I have the DIGGI 002(plus api preamp) conected to my PC, and the digital video camcorder connected to the Pc as well.
I want to record a video while I playing my drum set, which is Microphoned with the DIGGI. I dont know if i can do that simultaneously.
is a simple video like 5 minutes no cuts. DO i need any program?

Thank you!

So just record the video on the camcorders tape, the sound on your computer. Import the video into something like adobe premier, import the sound, sync the two.

Other programs will do this.

I wouldn't suggest trying to it all on the fly. Use each item separately then combine video and audio after the fact.

My computer will not even accept running the 002 with a firewire camcorder at the same time, its either one or the other. I think your best bet is to record to tape and sync it up in post using a video program.

If you really, really dont want to mess with video editing, I think you could use the outputs on the 002 (the line out, or headphone out, or whatever) and go into your camcorder with a couple of adapters. Just make sure the limiter on the camcorder is off. If you want to leave the 002 hooked up to the computer to mix "in the box", make sure you are using a fairly low latency, like 128 or 256 to avoid a noticeable delay in the sound.

or,
If you really want the easy route, just use the 002 in standalone mode and run it into the camcorder.
