Bigtree and I have been having a private discussion in regards to this topic.

We are curious as to which way RO members are leaning. Are you on PT with a Mac? PT with a PC? Nuendo / Cubase, Reason, Cakewalk, Cool Edit, etc or a stand alone system with an analog or digital console? Please share your thoughts with us so we can tailor the forum to be of the most help to all of you.. .

I wouldn't take my preference as any kind of "pro" opinion, but I'm happy with Nuendo 1.61 (soon to get v2) on my P4 PC I recently built (it screams!). For the Record - I track to a Roland VS-2480 (with the Data Compression bypassed in "M24" mode), and simply export these 24 bit Waves to CD-R, and import into the PC/Nuendo. Makes for a VERY portable combo, IMO (I track "on location" or in our practice room, and mix at home)

Later Cool

Money wasn't an issue so PT on a Mac was my personal choice.

I love the poll and am excited to see the results however, IMO, the majority of DAW users results here will log there budget and not what was best choice in that price range. More like tons of domestic cars and then there is...

PT isn't the best in the world... it's really more about what I like and what makes the most sence to me with my understanding of the entire music business... PT shouldn't be polled in the same league as a $1000 or there abouts budget DAW set-ups.

I'll make a prediction that Nuendo ojn PC has the market share for "Home Recording" DAW'S.

I use Nuendo and Sequoia on pc, i have grown accustomed to Nuendo and i find that it is the most flexible and easiest to manage of the sequencers. I use Sequoia in my built mastering console and i am looking into investing into Sadie in the next couple of years. Thumbs Up

Secondary DAW is DP4, so another vote for other.

Pro Tools 6.0.2 on mac OS 10.2.8.

Lot's of ProTools haters out there. But if your only gonna learn one program it's gotta be Pro Tools cause thats what the vast majority of studios are using.

PT LE 6.4 on Mac 15" powerbook through digi002r ...I chose this because I am also studying advertising and the Mac gives me some great options in both the artistic and musical spheres- Im in a fair bit of debt now though as a result...being 20 its kind of daunting, specially when I d like to buy some nice pre's and mic's soon too, but why spend all your time worrying about what you don't already have- learn to use what you've got... I don't mind tools at all, and used Nuendo for a few years before- they both have their pro's and con's (as do most things in life) ..whatever floats your boat really
Cheers, and interesting thread!

I'm running Nuendo 3 on a custom built Intel dual core rackmount DAW for my multitrack recordings. And Sound Forge for my 2 track editing work.
