I have had good luck with the Panasonic Brand and the Sony Brand.

I would stay away from "house" brands and no name brand as all you are really buying is a lot of trouble down the road.... |

I have had great luck with JVC 63PRO tapes. They only cut from the middle of the tape stock.
Here is the REALLY big tip though:
What ever tape you chose, STICK WITH IT.
Different tape companies use different lubricants in the tapes that can chemically react with each other. If you mix tapes alot, this WILL cause a chemical reaction and lead to early degradation of your play/record heads on that new Panasonic. |

Using only one tape stock is a very good suggestion. In our DVX100 we only use Panasonic DVM63MQ, the master series of the panasonic line. Dropouts are rare, and reliability has been excellent. And they are competitively priced too. |
